Linking the University and the Industry, Bureau of Innovation & Consultancy (BIP) plays a vital role by managing and promoting UTM's research and consultation activities through its four core service departments, ranging from the Department of Consultancy, Department of Entrepreneurship, Department of Technology Transfer to the Department of Commercialisation. Each of these departments has its own crucial function in spotting and highlighting UTM's expertise by collaborating with the industry, the public as well as international bodies. Whilst carrying out the university's mission in promoting and commercialising UTM's various intellectual resources, it is also regarded as a One Stop Centre for the technology transfer activities between the university and the industry. BIP is located at UTM's Technovation Park, at Jalan Pontian Lama, Skudai, which is nearby Pulai Springs Resort.
BIP's rapid expansion in activities related to R&D commercialisation, consultancy, technology transfer and entrepreneurship programmes, has attracted more staff members and UTM intellectuals to congregate with the industries and our partners at the Technovation Park thus emerging BIP as an important intermediary in meeting UTM's objectives and advancing it into a World Class University.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is the largest engineering based university in Malaysia. WIth two campuses in Skudai, Johor Bahru (main) and in Jalan Semarak, KL, UTM campus is a technologically rich and culturally vibrant area in southern-most part of Malaysia. It is also strategically located in the Iskandar Development Region which is to be a special economic growth centre of South Johor, apart from being the southern conurbation of Peninsular Malaysia.
