This is a joint venture program initiated by the University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). Its main objective is to produce IT entrepreneurs (IT entrepreneurs) at the postgraduate level. It is an effort to increase the number of highly skilled local IT technopreneurs and software developers.

The normal duration of this program is 2 years (4 semesters) and technopreneurs need to complete a total of 32 credits before graduation where 8 credits is dedicated to completing an IT-based project. Besides the normal class lectures, this program also adopts a Teaching Factory concept where technopreneurial have to undergo extensive involvement is eminent to the success of this program, thus, technopreneurs will be engaged to industrial mentors through the Mentoring concept introduced.

To further equip the technopreneurs to become more competent, innovative, versatile, and process ethical entrepreneurial values, they will be exposed to various kinds of external entrepreneurial program such as seminars, series of short courses, business discourse, workshops, business forum & networking, business competitions, business visits etc.

Students must complete their study before graduate.

• Able to develop a viable It-based product or service that incorporates innovation and has commercial potential or business value.
• Have thorough understanding of the entrepreneurial process from idea generation to the structuring of an It-based entrepreneurial venture.
• Ability to choose an appropriate legal structure and management infrastructure for an IY-based business concept.
• Exhibit analytical and critical thinking skills to determine the feasibility of an IT-based business concept.
• Ability to conduct research, develop, write, evaluate, present & defend a profitable IT-based Business Plan.
• Ability to identify & develop good networking circle including employees, clients & business partners, competitors and those who have direct & indirect relationship with their business.
• Ability to understand & exhibit a good entrepreneurial culture in a business venture.
